This summer, Curatorial intern Cecelia Vetter conducted research for the exhibition, Little Black Books: Address books from the Archives of American Art, opening August 7 in the Lawrence A. Fleischman Gallery at the Smithsonian’s Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture (SAAM). Cecelia looks at the friendship between artist Joseph Cornell and ballerina Tamara Toumanova through correspondence found in the artist’s papers.
